These can be<strong> infectious, chemical, sharps&#8230;<\/strong> and may include <strong>pharmaceuticals<\/strong> or <strong>biological fluids<\/strong>. Children play near these sites, inhaling harmful particles daily, while healthcare workers and patients face constant infectious risks. This situation exacerbates respiratory illnesses, hampers children\u2019s physical and cognitive development, and threatens the <strong>health security of communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In these rural areas, limited budgets make <strong><strong>Healthcare Waste<\/strong><\/strong> particularly critical, highlighting the urgency of solutions adapted to local realities. The challenge is therefore not limited to equipping hospitals, but involves establishing a <strong>secure, comprehensive, and sustainable system.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left has-bleu-fonce-color has-text-color\">STERIPLUS\u2122 40: A Technological Solution for Medical Waste Management in Vietnam<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To meet this challenge, <strong>Tesalys, in partnership with UNICEF and the Australian government<\/strong>, launched a project to equip six rural hospitals with <strong>STERIPLUS\u2122 40<\/strong> technology by early 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tesalys.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1736413276262-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:313px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>This innovative solution works like a giant pressure cooker for medical waste. DASRI is collected and loaded into the machine, where it is heated to high temperatures under pressure, neutralizing all infectious agents. The sterilized waste is then transformed into inert residue, which can be safely disposed of without posing a risk to people or the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each machine can process<strong> 40 liters per cycle<\/strong>, or about <strong>1,200 liters per month<\/strong> for an average <strong>hospital<\/strong>, reducing <strong>contamination risks<\/strong> by <strong>90%<\/strong>. The <strong>technology<\/strong> handles different types of <strong>waste<\/strong>, from biological fluids to sharps, while minimizing risks to operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">To ensure maximum efficiency and project sustainability, local teams are trained, standardized procedures are implemented, and rigorous monitoring is carried out. This approach allows hospitals, even in the most isolated areas, to operate autonomously while complying with international health and environmental safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left has-bleu-fonce-color has-text-color\">Tangible Results for Health and the Environment through Medical Waste Management in Vietnam<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial<strong> impacts<\/strong> are already visible. Effective <strong>sterilization of medical waste<\/strong> reduces <strong>hospital-acquired infections<\/strong>, <strong>protecting<\/strong> <strong>patients <\/strong>and healthcare<strong> workers<\/strong>. Children, once exposed to pollutants, now grow up in a healthier environment, reducing respiratory illnesses and supporting their <strong>physical and cognitive development.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> environmental impact<\/strong> is also significant.<strong> Reduced CO\u2082 emissions<\/strong> and <strong>fine particles<\/strong> improve <strong>air quality <\/strong>around hospitals, while limiting hazardous waste in landfills protects soil and waterways. Additionally, working conditions for healthcare staff improve thanks to environments that meet international standards, <strong>enhancing patient safety<\/strong> and <strong>local community trust<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> initiative<\/strong> demonstrates that it is possible to combine technological innovation, training, and rigorous monitoring to create a<strong> sustainable medical waste management<\/strong> system, even in<strong> isolated rural areas<\/strong>.
